Formation

Wood opal is a petrified, fossilized wood, where wood structures, under certain conditions have been penetrated by silicate materials, such as opal. Usually, the color of wood opal is a variety of brown shades, although it can be found in grey or green color.

Wood opal, as petrified wood of other varieties, is believed to be a highly beneficial and protective stone.
