Chrysoprase - History and Properties

Chrysoprase

History-Name

The name chrysoprase derives from the Greek words "chrysos" and "prason". Chrysoprase has been known from ancient times, to ancient Greeks and Romans, who used it to create brooches, bracelets, rings and other jewelry pieces. Later on, during Christianity, chrysoprase has been used for the interior decoration of cathedrals. It has also been used for making talismans against jealousy and curses.

Chrysoprase is a chalcedony quartz variety in green shades, from emerald and blue-green to apple green.

Healing Properties - Metaphysical

Chrysoprase helps us in becoming less egocentric and enhances the feeling of belonging and being part of a divine whole, bringing a sense of stability, security and trust. It helps in recognizing past egoistic motives and behaviors that affected our current situation.

Chrysoprase also helps in overcoming obsessions and makes us focus on positive events and outcomes. It protects against other people's negative comments and reduces anger. It eliminates repetitive and depressive images stored in our memory, acting as a shield against nightmares - especially for the children.
