Aquamarine is a transparent to semi-transparent or opaque gemstone, of pale to dark blue  or in  blue-green shades. It is usually recognized by its hexagonal form and its characteristic color.

The name Aquamarine is of Latin origin (Aqua Marina),  meaning seawater.

Aquamarine was and still is a very popular semi-precious stone.

In ancient ages people believed that Aquamarine fights the forces of darkness. In Middle Ages, it was believed that aquamarine had the power to calm down the sea, so sailors used to carry Aquamarine with them as an amulet. It is also considered that Aquamarine strengthens friendship bonds, and protects the carrier from troubles
